NLKi members meeting 2024

The general membership meeting took place on January 24, 2024. In addition to the usual topics such as the re-election of the board and the approval of the budget, attention was also paid to the return of packaging and reels, and sustainability. Part of sustainability is how we should deal with EPDs for cables and associated parts such as connectors.

A problem that was identified with the EPD is the different effect that the Dutch government will implement compared to other countries within Europe. The National Environmental Database lags behind in terms of standards, is incomplete and not reliable in category 3. A European draft PCR (product category rule) for cables has now been submitted.

With regard to a return system for reels, it was determined that further elaboration is required to comply with the increasingly strict rules regarding packaging.

In addition, the wish was expressed to organize courses for members on, for example, cable lugs, cable dimensioning, etc

Finally, it was proposed to organize a conference again this year, just like in 2023.

As usual, the meeting ended with drinks.
